Import the schedule you already have.
ConaPlan import brings an existing schedule from MS Project, Primavera or Excel into the ConaPlan Gantt chart — with activities, phases, durations, dependencies and deadlines — and shows whether the dates match the original before you confirm.
Supported files
Schedules are imported into an empty project. ConaPlan recognises the format from the file content:
- MS Project: .mpp and MS Project XML (MSPDI);
- Primavera: XER and P6 XML;
- Excel (.xlsx) and CSV with column mapping and a downloadable template;
- files up to 5 MB and up to 2,000 activities.
Review before import
Nothing is written until you confirm. The review shows a summary, on how many activities ConaPlan calculates the same dates as the original file, a table of file dates next to ConaPlan dates with the difference, and every warning with its row number.
For MS Project you can pick another text column as the activity name (for example a Slovenian name next to a German one). Crews are suggested from group names.
What is carried over
- activities, phases (summary rows) and milestones;
- durations in working days and the project calendar (working Saturday yes / no);
- FS, SS and FF links with lags; SF is converted to SS with a warning;
- "start no earlier than" constraints as start-no-earlier-than, "must finish on" as a fixed finish (when the owner imports);
- for Excel and CSV, predecessors in MS Project notation (e.g. "3FS+2d"), with file start dates kept as start-no-earlier-than.
What ConaPlan flags
Whatever cannot be carried over exactly does not disappear silently but is listed in the review: calendar exceptions, durations that are not whole working days, percentage lags, manual tasks, links to external projects and constraints ConaPlan does not support. A schedule with a circular dependency is not imported.
After the import
The import is saved as the first version of the schedule, which you can set as the baseline. From there you run the project in ConaPlan: assign crews, send links to subcontractors and follow the status from site.
Questions
Can I import an .mpp file without MS Project?
Yes. ConaPlan converts the .mpp file on the server; you do not need MS Project.
Do the dates match MS Project after import?
The review shows on how many activities ConaPlan reproduces the file dates. For MS Project XML the comparison runs without Slovenian public holidays; on the schedules tested during development all 146 of 146 activities matched. In the plan itself ConaPlan does respect the holidays, so activities that span one move accordingly.
Can I import into a project that already has activities?
No. Import is for an empty project, so an existing schedule is never overwritten by mistake.
